About Us

Box Rules:

  1. Check your ego at the door – The gym is no place for a big ego. Try to lift too much? You’ll get hurt… Afraid to look silly? Afraid to fail? You’ll never reach your full potential… CrossFit Dark Element is a place to train with other members of our great community, and to get stronger, faster and fitter together (and have fun doing it!)
  2. Never say “I Can’t” – There aren’t really words to express how much I hate hearing those words… the first step in achieving your goals and realizing your full potential is believing in yourself. By joining our community you’ve taken the first step – now believe in yourself, don’t be afraid of failing and say “I will”. It may not be today… it may not be tomorrow… but with our help YOU CAN and YOU WILL
  3. Coaches Coach and Athletes Train – Our coaches know what they are doing, and have a reason for doing things a certain way. We love to hear athletes cheering for each other to complete the last few reps or hit that PR, but please don’t provide coaching or corrections to other athletes. If you see something unsafe, tell a coach immediately, but please let us do our jobs!!
  4. Welcome new members of the Community – We can all remember our first experience with CrossFit (and especially our first time with a large group). It can be kind of intimidating if you’re fresh from foundations or coming in from another Affiliate and don’t know anyone. Make new folks feel welcome!! Remember, we’re not a gym – we’re a community!!
  5. HAVE FUN! – enough said…
  6. Train Hard and Train Smart – I always tell people that we don’t promise you a quick fix or six-minute abs. CrossFit is hard work, and you get out of it what you put into it! But remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you won’t be either! It’s perfectly OK to take an easy day if you’re under the weather or not feeling fully recovered. Days and even weeks off (gasp!) are sometimes good for us in the long run! Listen to your body, and be smart about your training!
  7. Respect the equipment, but don’t baby it – We lift and drop a lot of heavy weights… swing kettlebells… throw medicine balls around… this is all very serious business. It’s important to respect the equipment and be mindful of what you’re doing at all times, but don’t baby it!
  8. Clean up after the WOD – Please wipe down the equipment you used for the workout and put everything back where you found it at the start of class!
  9. Own your health – Eat, Sleep and Recover properly!! We can’t get inside your body to see how you’re feeling and how you’re recovering. You need to take care of yourselves both inside and outside of the gym. Don’t complain to me that you haven’t lost the lost 10 pounds if you’re eating like crap, not sleeping enough and not recovering properly! We’ll give you the tools to take ownership of your health – it’s up to you to hold yourself accountable…
  10. HAVE FUN!!!
